The doctors and staff of the Barton Surgery welcome you to
our website. We hope that all our patients will find
helpful advice about our practices and the services we offer.
The Barton Surgery is the only GP practice in Dawlish and is situated in the upper part of the main car park in the town, adjacent to Dawlish Community Hospital. The Warren Surgery is a small branch surgery situated in the centre of Dawlish Warren and is open for part of every day, Monday to Friday.
We have 12,500 patients, mainly resident in Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, and the practice also looks after as many as 3,500 holiday makers who come to the area each year.
Barton Surgery is situated within a pay and display car park, owned and managed by Teignbridge District Council and is, therefore, outside of our area of control. There is limited free parking in the road and the surgery is a drop off point for the local shopper bus. There is parking at the front of the Warren Surgery. Both surgeries have suitable access for the disabled.
The Barton Surgery is fortunate to have a pharmacy located at the entrance to the surgery, run by Lloyds Chemists. The opening hours of this pharmacy are 8.30am - 6.30pm Monday - Friday.
The doctors of the practice offer a wide range of services, supported by nursing, reception and secretarial staff, and the practice is fully computerised. The practice is also supported by health visitors, district nurses, practice counsellor, health promotion nurse for the elderly and, with Dawlish Community Hospital being adjacent to the Barton Surgery, we have the use of their facilities.
The practice is a training practice and regularly receives medical students and student nurses from the Peninsula Medical School.
DEVON PRIMARY CARE TRUST (TEIGNBRIDGE)
The Devon Primary Care Trust oversees your
local NHS services. They commission health care services for a
population of 109,000 people and work in partnership with
District Councils, Social Services, the Community and Health
Improvement Forum, the new local forum for health, schools and
the voluntary sector, to promote health and well-being in the
area.
The PCT works closely with the 14 main GP practices, Dentists,
Opticians and Pharmacists in Teignbridge and is responsible for a
budget of £97 million, and employs 550 staff across Teignbridge,
mainly based in our 5 Community Hospitals and GP surgeries.
Their priority areas are: Access to Services, Cancer, Coronary
Heart Disease, Children and Older People and developments
relating to Mental Health Services.
