The
Dawlish Patient Support Group was formed in 1988 to provide additional
comfort and support for patients in the Dawlish area who are being cared
for in their own home by the local doctors, community nurses and health
visitors. Volunteer helpers can help people cope with illness and
adversity in many different ways and aim to improve the quality of life
of our patients and their relatives in times of need. They provide many
and varied services, ranging from help with shopping and transport, to
befriending and sitting in with the old or chronically ill. All
volunteers are supervised by the Co-ordinator, Mrs Anona Sheldon, who is
based at the surgery and works closely with the staff in matching
patients’ needs with the volunteers’ skill and training.
Mrs
Sheldon can be contacted on 0845 0264418, Monday and Wednesday pm, and
Friday am and messages can be left for her at the surgery at any time.
Volunteers are always welcome so please contact the Group if you feel
you have something to offer. |
