Barton Surgery

Pharmacy Team

We now have a Pharmacy team at our surgery who can deal with any medication related queries. Our team consists of 3 Pharmacists and a Pharmacy Technician who work across the Coastal Primary Care Network (PCN) which covers all of the GP surgeries in Teignmouth and Dawlish. All of the team are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Two of our Pharmacists work remotely from home, and one Pharmacist and our Pharmacy Technician work on site.

We also have a Social Prescriber working for the PCN. Please see our patient information leaflet for more information on what a social prescriber does.”

Natalie Prowse: On site Pharmacist, Pharmacy Team leader

Natalie went to De Montfort University where she was awarded a first-class master’s degree in 2015, and went on to qualify in 2016. She has since worked in community pharmacy until she joined us in April 2020. She still works in community one Sunday a month, and will be doing her prescribing course in the new year. Natalie is also a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Vicky Prowse (not related to Natalie!): On site Pharmacy Technician

Vicky qualified as a technician in 2018 whilst working in a prison, and then went on to work at Torbay hospital where she finished her medicine optimisation course in 2019. She started working for our PCN in July 2020 and supports the pharmacists with their workload, whilst also carrying out her own medication reviews. She has a particular interest in mental health.

Farah Khan: Remote Pharmacist Prescriber, Trainee Advanced Practitioner

Farah graduated from the University of Bradford and went on to qualify in 2017. She qualified as a prescribing pharmacist in 2020 with diabetes as her area of interest, and is currently doing her Advanced Practitioner course alongside a program at diploma level with the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education.

Zyra Hussain: Remote Pharmacist

Zyra also graduated from the University of Bradford and qualified in 2017 and is hoping to do her prescribing course in the new year along with the advanced practitioner pathway. Zyra only recently joined our PCN but has already helped many patients with medicine related queries, reviews and requests.

Becki White: Wellbeing Practitioner

Becki enjoys helping people to thrive and this has guided her career. She graduated in 2016 with a degree in early childhood studies. She has previously worked as a community health advisor for the health schools’ team in Cornwell, and as a project officer for the social mobility charity, Future First. She is really looking forward to using her experiences to further develop the social prescribing service for our patients in the Coastal Network, along with learning heaps more along the way!

If you would like to book in with a member of our pharmacy team, or with Becki, please ring reception or request an appointment online.

You may also get a call from the Pharmacy team when you have requested a medicine to review your prescription, or to contact you for a medication review.
